- Campus Grounds
The German-American International School occupies 5.6 acres, with one permanent building (approx. 13,000 square feet) and several portable buildings (approx. 25,000 square feet) in Menlo Park, California. Together they comprise facilities typical of an elementary or "middle" school in California. The school property is leased from the Menlo Park-Las Lomitas School District.
The youngest children attend classes in the main building only. Upper grades and special study/tutorial classes are housed in the portables.
Additional facilities include tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a grass area for other sports such as soccer, basketball courts, a volleyball court, a play structure, a blacktop play area, and an extensive preschool outdoor area.
- Preschool Classrooms
The preschool classrooms are spacious and allow children to be creative and to relax after doing arts and crafts, playing, singing, and exercising.
- Kindergarten / Vorschule Classrooms
The Vorschule children have decorated their classroom with beautiful artwork.
- Grade School Classrooms
The higher grades are housed in modern portables.
- Science Lab

- Music Room
Our music teacher introduces GAIS children to new vocal and instrumental experiences.
- Gymnasium
GAIS is one of only a few local schools boasting a gymnasium for indoor P.E. lessons. The gym is also used for general assemblies, school events, and parties.
- Library
The new library building was inaugurated at the beginning of the 2008-09 school year.The GAIS library uses standard library and cataloguing software. Its collections encompass over 11,000 books, CDs, DVDs, and videos. The collection of German titles is currently in the process of being expended. For library hours please click here.
- Playgrounds
This play structure is only one of the many features of the extensive playgrounds that include tennis courts, basketball courts, a baseball diamond, a volleyball court, a grass area, a blacktop play area, and a beautiful preschool playground.
