Admissions Checklist

If possible, parents should visit the school or talk to our administrators before applying to discuss the admissions process.

PRESCHOOL
(Age 2 years 9 months to age 5)

The preschool has multi-age class groupings of children from 2 years, 9 months to 5 years of age. Children should be potty-trained. No prior knowledge of German is required for the preschool.

Application and Fees

Complete the Online Application and submit the non-refundable fee of $75 to the office.*

Schedule Shadow Day

Although not required, shadow days can be informative. Contact the admissions office to schedule a date for you and your student to visit for part of the day.

Preschool does not have an application deadline. Parents can apply all year. However, in order for a student to be considered during the open enrollment period, the application should be in by January 15, 2016.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
(K to Grade 4)

GAIS welcomes new students who are able to fit into our German/English bilingual elementary school program at any grade. Knowledge of German is not required for entry into kindergarten.

 Talk to Teachers and Parents

Talk to teachers and optionally current parents to obtain a detailed impression of the school. The admissions office can provide you with contact information.

Determine Appropriate Grade Level

Work with school administration to determine appropriate grade level for your child.

 Schedule Shadow Day

Students can shadow throughout the school year. Contact the admissions office to schedule a shadow day.

 Transcript Requests

School records will be required for students applying to grade 2 and higher. Records must be received by January 15, 2016.

 Complete Documents

Complete and return a completed application package, including the following documents below, by Jan. 15, 2016*

  • Parent Questionnaire
  • Two school recommendations (from principal and 1 teacher)
  • Transcript release and confidentiality

MIDDLE SCHOOL
(Grades 5 – 8)

GAIS seeks applicants who are internationally minded, inquisitive and enthusiastic. No prior knowledge of German is required.
