Admissions Elementary School
GAIS welcomes new students seeking a bilingual elementary school program at any grade. Typically, non-German speakers will benefit from at least a year in our German-immersion Preschool prior to Kindergarten (Vorschule). However, non-German-speaking students can be accepted into Kindergarten. Fluent German speakers are typically able to join at any grade level.
Students are assigned to instructional groups primarily on the basis of age. The school cut-off date is September 1 and students who are five years old by September 1 of the school year they are applying for will be admitted into the Kindergarten (Vorschule) program. Similarly, students who are six will be admitted to Grade 1.
How to Apply
Enrolling your children at the German-American International School involves several steps. After you have reviewed our information, had a school tour, talked to teachers and maybe current parents, you should have a very detailed impression of the benefits our school offers to your child.
When you have made your decision to enroll you child at our school, please fill out the online application and submit it to the school with a $75 application fee.
School records, such as report cards, will be required for students applying to Grade 2 and higher.
The school will inform you about the status of your application once you have successfully submitted all required information and payment. Once you have been notified of acceptance, you will then be asked to fill out an enrollment contract and pay the $550 annual enrollment fee and a tuition deposit.
At that point your child will have a confirmed place in the school. Before attending school, a series of forms and health records will need to be submitted to the school office.
