The International Middle School at GAIS actively seeks applicants who are internationally minded, inquisitive and enthusiastic. A school visit gives the entire family an opportunity to explore the campus and different subject rooms and to meet the staff. We will provide materials and information to give you and your child an impression of our student centered teaching approach which is based on the International Baccalaureate program.

Please print out the form ‘Application for Admission‘, complete and submit it to our office, along with the $75 application fee.

Schedule a Shadow Visit
We ask that your child attend a full day at the school and shadow another currently-enrolled GAIS student. The goal of the shadow day is that your child has a chance to familiarize his or herself with the International Middle School community and participate in classes in action. The students will be assigned to their prospective class level and are paired with a currently-enrolled student based on their interests.To schedule shadow days, please fill out the Contact and Reservation Form.

Testing
We require that applicants submit the results of the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). The ISEE exam may be taken at any test site location. The International Middle School Site Code is #054382. To register online, go to www.iseetest.org. Please ensure that all results are forwarded to our school as soon as possible.

To be complete, GAIS must receive all necessary forms until January 14, 2013.
We ask that each parent or guardian living with the applicant complete a questionnaire. Please submit with the application.
Parents/guardians must complete the Transcript Release Form and give it to the students’ school counselor or registrar so they can send us the students’ fourth or fifth grade transcripts. Please ask your school to include a copy of the signed transcript release form for our files.

Two Teacher Recommendations
We require two teacher recommendations, one from the applicant’s current teacher and one from last year’s teacher. Each teacher must send the sealed form directly to the International Middle School.Principal or Counselor Recommendation
We require input from a school principal or counselor as part of the admission process. The principal or counselor must send the sealed form directly to the International Middle School.Personal Recommendation
In addition to your child’s teachers, we would like to hear from another adult who plays a significant role in his or her life. The individual might be, for example, a music teacher, athletic coach, or religious advisor. The individual recommending the applicant must send the sealed form directly to the International Middle School. - Interview

Interview
Once the application has been submitted, we will contact you to schedule a family interview. This interview is a critical component of our admissions process. Each parent or guardian must attend with his or her child. The interview lasts approximately 45 minutes, with the last 15 minutes set aside for one-on-one time with the applicant. We ask that your child bring something that is special or meaningful to the interview for him or her to share during the one-on-one portion.

Enrollment offer letters will be mailed by March 14, 2013.
Applicants, who fall below the prerequisites but have the potential for success, may be admitted on probation if resources are available to serve their needs.
