This Emergency Preparedness Plan for GAIS covers the preparations and procedures necessary to ensure the safety of all students and school personnel in the event of a emergency. The plan addresses earthquake as well as other emergency situations. This Plan is a working document that will be updated periodically. Appropriate drills and training will be provided at school to help staff and students become familiar with their responsibilities.

It is important that students do not get contradictory information about what to do in an emergency from parents and staff, so please read the emergency plan before discussing your family emergency plans with your children.

Emergency preparedness also includes close cooperation and planning with police, fire, civic emergency agencies and school/parent groups. Information regarding school emergency procedures will be disseminated to parents and community members. Lastly, emergency preparedness depends upon periodic review by school personnel and students and periodic communication with all citizens of the school community.
